How do you store igepal?
Andrew Davis Storage: Store in tightly closed containers. Store in an area that is dry, well-ventilated, away from ignition sources, away from incompatible materials (see Section 10. Stability and Reactivity).
What does igepal do?
IGEPAL CA-630 is a nonionic, non-denaturing detergent. All IGEPAL CA surfactants are derived from octylphenol. This serves as the hydrophobic part. Different amounts of ethylene oxide are combined with this part to get a balance of hydrophobic/hydrophilic substances (measured by HLB).
How do you dilute igepal?
Warm stock bottle of IGEPAL CA-630 to 37°C as it is quite viscous at room temperature. Make a 10% solution by adding 4mL of warmed IGEPAL (dispensed via a 5mL syringe attached to an 18 gauge needle) to 36mL of Milli-Q or Molecular Biology Grade sterile dH20.
What does NP-40 stand for?
Nonidet P-40
Nonidet P-40 (“Non-Ionic Detergent”) was originally manufactured and trademarked by the Shell Chemical Company, but was phased out of production in the early 2000s. Confusingly, biochemical protocols published between the 1960s and 2000s refer to Shell’s Nonidet P-40 as NP-40.
Does NP-40 lysis nuclei?
NP-40 and Triton X-100 will not lyse nuclear membranes. After lysis, pellet the nuclei by centrifugation and transfer the supernatant to a new tube. If you wish to isolate both the nuclear and soluble fractions, resuspend the nuclear pellet in RIPA buffer. NP-40 is also marketed under the name Igepal CA-630.
Is NP-40 detergent?
NP-40 (also known as Tergitol-type NP-40 and nonyl phenoxypolyethoxylethanol) is a commercially available detergent with CAS Registry Number 9016-45-9. NP-40 has applications in paper and textile processing, in paints and coatings, and in agrochemical manufacturing.
Is igepal the same as NP-40?
Nonidet P-40 and IGEPAL CA-630 are the same, those are merely different brand names. According to the manufacturer, Sigma-Aldrich, the two compounds are “chemically indistinguishable”. Both are octylphenoxy poly(ethyleneoxy)ethanol.
How long does NP-40 last?
Store at +4°C. The product can be stored for up to 12 months.
Is deoxycholate denatured?
Sodium cholate and sodium deoxycholate are the least denaturing of the commonly used ionic detergents.
Is NP-40 a buffer?
NP40 Cell Lysis Buffer is a high-quality, ready-to-use lysis buffer suitable for the preparation of cell extracts for ELISA, western blotting, and antibody bead immunoassays (Luminex) applications.
